Will it hold a shop?

A canvas tote will. A thin cotton shopper is for a book and a lunch, and the difference is in the weight of the fabric rather than in the size of the bag.

Can I wash it?

Most cotton totes wash cold and hang dry. A print that has been ironed on rather than screened does not survive a hot wash, so read the card and then the label that comes with it.

Is the goose on both sides?

Usually on one. Where a maker states a two-sided print, the card says so.
